Within each one of us is a battleground in which the forces of light and darkness wage war for control of our heart. One force pulls us towards the heavier dimension of the physical realm, while another force pulls us towards the higher vibration of the spiritual plain. We choose which force dominates our consciousness. Will our heart be ruled by love or fear?
In every situation, you always have a choice: between love or fear. Love lifts you up and fear pulls you down. It is always your choice: love or fear.
Where are you focusing your attention?

Are you focusing your attention on the warm, loving presence of God or your you focusing on your limitations? Remember, what you focus on creates your reality.
Within you is a force so powerful, that it has the strength to completely overwhelm any darkness that arises in your life. Most people are unaware that this power even exists.
Anytime you feel negatively, such as resentment and hatred, surfacing in your life, you can call on this power, the power of love, to arise and completely overwhelm the opposing forces of darkness, ignorance, and illusion. You were born with this power. Use it!
When
Love is enters the battle
The forces of darkness must withdraw
The key is to know that this power exists and remember to use it.
How does love defeat its enemy? It defeats the dark forces with the understanding that only love is real and everything else is an illusion; a ghost arising from the past.
Don’t believe anything that takes you away
from your greatness.
You cannot win a fight with a ghost by traditional methods, because everything you try to do to get rid of it, only makes the illusion stronger. No, the way to get rid of the ghost is take a deep breath and return to your center; the warm, loving presence of God, which is always available for us to access.
Well-up the forces of light and love to complexly engulf and dissolve the darkness in its brilliant bright light.
Don’t
fight the darkness
Simply turn on the light.
But you may say, “those ghosts are so sneaky. What do you do to protect yourself from a ghost creeping up on you, and before you know it, bang! You have a full-scale catastrophe on your hands?”
It is true that our illusions are sneaky. It’s much easier to remain mindful and nip the destructive thoughts before they start causing their damage.
Again, and again disturbances will arise. Expect it, be prepared for it. When disturbances do arise , take a deep breath and pull yourself back to your point of power, the present moment. The quicker you do this, the better off you will be. This needs to be the core of our practice.
Create a shield of love to protect you against the forces of darkness. Activate your energy shield of love before approaching any activity that has the potential to be stressful (such as driving home from work).
When a disturbance arises, remember to take a deep breath, come back to the present moment, and rise up!
When
you realize that you are under the dark spells of your illusions,
they begin to lose their power
If you find your disturbances (such as difficult people) are still too much to handle, call on the Beloved; who is always nearby and happy to offer assistance.
Tell the Beloved, “I need your help God. I cannot do it by myself. Let me feel your warm loving presence. Help me understand that the only thing that is real is love and everything else is an illusion.” You will then feel His loving presence start to lift you up.
Meet dread head-on with love
When dread strikes, one must hold on to love like a drowning man grasps a lifeline. Don’t let it go!
Hold yourself in your own arms. Tell yourself how much you love yourself and how much God loves you. And, remind yourself how much you have to be thankful for and how thankful you are for all the things that you don’t have that don’t want.
I have found that disturbing situations have their upside. Not only are they great opportunities to learn another lesson in love; but they also spur my creative energies. I do some of my best writing when I am recovering from an upset.
When you feel like you are being besieged by one negative thought after another, don’t resist them or take them personally; no, that will only make them grow stronger. Instead, turn around 180 degrees and listen to what they have to say. Your negative thoughts are trying to tell you something. They are trying to tell you what needs healing. Beneath the words maybe you will detect a fear. Maybe it’s a fear of not being good enough.
Now, bathe your unloving thoughts in love and allow them to be transformed into more love energy.
The cause of all suffering is our belief that we are in some way separated from the love that we need. In reality, all we have to do is turn inwards and we will find all the love we will ever need. That is why our practice of continually turning inward is so important to maintaining our overall happiness.
The present moment is your friend
Don’t allow yourself to be pulled into the past by the phantoms of your mind or the worries of what might happen in the future. Come back to the moment. Your choice is always clear: love or fear. Choose love!
If at any time you don’t like the way you feel, you can shift into a higher vibration. Simply take a deep breath and remember all the goodness that is within you, then shift into that goodness. Then continue to breathe into your heart center to maintain your overall comfort and wellbeing. It’s your birthright. It is who you are. Its miraculous. It works!
When you become agitated,
take a deep breath
and love right over it.
Request that God post the sentry of love at the doorway of our mind. You will know instinctively when an unwholesome thought comes knocking at your door. That way, you can turn it away before it enters your domain and interferes with your well-being.
So, remember, there is no need to fight your ghosts. Simply be aware of them as they arise and overwhelm them with the power of love.
The following inspirations will help you harness the power of love to overcome the darkness in your life:
Strengthen yourself with love,
for it is an impregnable fortress.
– Inspired by Epictetus (55-135)
God’s love enters into one’s heart, as the morning sun into the world;
first a dawning, then a light; and finally, the full sun shining in all its magnificence.
– Inspired by Thomas Adams (1583-1653)
No problem can stand the assault of love.
– Inspired by Voltaire
Deep within you, below pain, below all of your concepts,
is a silence vast and grand – an ocean of bliss
which nothing can disturb.
– Inspired by Richard Maurice Bucke (1837-1902)
Put on the armor of love and venture out into this world as a man or woman of God.
Let nothing come between you and your inner goodness.
If you think about disaster, you will get it.
Brood about death and you hasten your demise.
Think warm, loving, uplifting thoughts and you will experience heaven on earth.
– Inspired by Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902)
With all the adversities in life,
what can one do?
One can love. One can Love!
