Basking in the Heavenly Sunshine

This post was originally published on December 1, 2018 and was updated on November 26, 2019.

Just as we are bathed in the warm glow of the sun, we are also bathed in the glow of Spirit’s heavenly sunshine. This warm loving glow truly has the power to lift us up out of our darkness into a heavenly new reality. The Light is always shining from within. It’s just that sometimes we become forgetful and focus more on the darkness instead of the light.

shine like the sun
Basking in the sun

The Upanishads tell us that this light is everywhere, shining forth from everything, vaster than the vast, subtler than the most subtle, unreachable, yet nearer than our breath. We cannot see, hear, or taste it; only in deep silence and absorption can we merge into it. As soon as we find it, we are free; we have found our self. We return to our radiant intimate source.

Shine Like the Sun

The sun shining brightly in the sky is direct evidence of the existence of God.

Our world is warmed by an outer sun, but it is also warmed by an inner sun.

There is a light which shines beyond all things;
beyond the world, beyond even the highest heavens.
This is the light which shines within your heart.
– The Upanishads (900-700 B.C.)

The sun of God is always shining from within but people are mostly too preoccupied to feel it’s warm, loving glow.

See the sun that burns in the sky. Feel the Sun that burns brightly within. Allow the light to wrap itself around you and enfold you in the most warm, loving embrace.

Like the sun, love radiates and warms all it touches.
– Paraphrasing O.S. Marden (1848-1924)

Keep coming back to the love and the light. Bask in your spiritual sunshine. It is as natural for your heart to radiate love as it is for the sun to radiate light.

Remember to Turn on the Light

We can shine as bright as the sun right now! Our only limitation is our self-limiting beliefs.

Our true nature is always radiant, shining, and glowing forth; however, it is often overshadowed by our illusions and past conditioning.

Our dark thoughts are like clouds moving across the sky of our consciousness. All the while, the sun burns brightly within.

A moment of enlightenment is like the sun breaking through the clouds clear and bright, illuminating everything.

Come out from behind the clouds and shine like the sun!

Bring the Darkness into the light

In your life thoughts and feelings will arise and subside. Do not try to grasp or push them away. Just continue on towards the light.

Bring all your pain into the light, where it can be healed. Let Spirit’s brilliant light burn away all your illusions.

Awaken, my dear.
Be kind to your sleeping heart.
Bring it into the Light, where it can be healed.
– Inspired by Hafez (1315-1390)

Your suffering is actually a good thing, for it is drawing you to the light.

We are born into the world of light when we are aware of our Godliness.

Surround Yourself with Light

Call on God to surround you with a protective white light. Feel this warm, loving light as you move throughout your busy day.

When disturbances arise, surround your unloving thoughts and feelings with light until all that remains is light.

By feeling the warm, loving presence of God, we enter into the Light, where no harm can come to us.

We can tune into our inner sunshine whenever we need to experience its warm loving glow.

Feel the light
Enter the light
Be the light

Now is the time to bask in the warmth of your inner light and shine like the sun.
